The Philadelphia Chapter is saddened by the recent events surrounding the Pennsylvania State University and the Penn State Nittany Lion Athletic Department.
We should all remember that Penn State is not made of just a few people. We are all Penn State, and we will continue to serve our community and uphold the tradition that WE built. The Chapter continues to offer support and will strive to serve the Penn State Alumni Association's mission. We offer a few words from the officers of the Penn State Alumni Association:
A Message from the Officers of the Penn State Alumni Association:
Penn Staters everywhere are in shock over the terrible news of this past week.
We can’t begin to express the pain we feel for the victims and their families. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.
Alumni, family, and friends are dealing with emotions ranging from sorrow to anger to concern to disappointment. Many are questioning their loyalty to Penn State.
The allegations surrounding Jerry Sandusky are shocking and horrifying. We cannot let the actions of one individual, nor the alleged inaction of a few others, tear down this great institution.
Penn State’s reputation has always stood for honesty, integrity, and the highest moral standards throughout its history. Unfortunately, that reputation is now being questioned. Our beloved University needs our support now, more than ever!
