Everyone (alumni, friends, family, and fans) is welcome to join Team PhillyLOVE to run and have fun, walk and talk or volunteer and cheer as we, simultaneously with teams throughout the country, participate in the Virtual HOPE Express, to raise money and awareness for the Four Diamonds Fund and the kids.
The Virtual HOPE Express is a Chapter supported event, part of the larger HOPE Express, a 135-mile run (ran by PSU and THON Alumni) created to bridge the gap between the families on the 7th floor at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA and the Dancers at THON, all benefiting the Four Diamonds Fund, Conquering Childhood Cancer.
Not in Philly? Not a Runner? No Problem!
There are several ways to support the Virtual Hope Express without running or even being in Philly.
- For those not in Philly, you can still run “virtually” with Team PhillyLOVE or find a team near you.
- Volunteer to help with registration and other race-day needs. Email Maria at email@example.com for more information.
- Make a donation in support of Team PhillyLOVE and THE KIDS!
- Spread the word! Sharing this event with friends, family and social networks is the easiest and most effective way to help. Please pass this event along to all of your friends and ask them to do the same. Thank you!
What is HOPE Express?
The Hope Express is a 135-mile run created to bridge the gap between the families on the 7th floor at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA and the Dancers at the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (aka THON), a year round fundraising event benefiting The Four Diamonds Fund, Conquering Childhood Cancer.
Why Mid September?
The Hope express now entering its 8th year wanted to have a date that signified the significance of what our charity is all about. The founders, Connie and Hank Angus felt that mid September was the perfect time because it was on Sept 15th ,2004 that their son Gabriel was diagnosed with leukemia. To date the Hope Express has raised more than $240,000 for the Four Diamonds Fund in Hershey, Pa.
