Board of Directors - Bios
Shane White, President
Shane was born and raised in Bucks County, PA. He graduated from Penn State in 2018 with a B.S. in Business and a minor in Health Policy & Administration. During his undergrad career, he held multiple leadership positions in THON and SGA. His favorite position was leading Penn State Abington’s THON Org as the Executive Director and breaking campus fundraising records. He continues his passion for THON and Four Diamonds through serving as Chair of the Liberty Ball Committee.
Shane currently works at GSK as a US Ethics & Compliance Associate within their Consumer Health Division. He is responsible for Third-Party Oversight, Independent Business Monitoring, Transparency Reporting, and is the Business Partner to the Retail Sales Organization and the Puerto Rico Market.
Shane is very active within his community. Outside of PSAA Philly, he serves on the Abington Alumni Society Board, BCTHS Foundation for Excellence Board of Directors, and the FCRC Consistory Board.
In his spare time, Shane enjoys spending time with his puppy, Tito, traveling, hiking, spending time at the beach, and spending time with family and friends.
Janelle Rushton, Vice President
Janelle hails from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area, otherwise known as the home of “The Office”. During her time at Penn State she played varsity tennis for the Hazleton campus, was a member of the THON Special Events Committee and worked as a student Phonathon caller. She graduated from University Park in 2015 with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS).
After graduating, Janelle interned with Penn State’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations. She is currently employed by Widener University as the Associate Director of Annual Giving. Janelle also serves as a board member of the Penn State HDFS Affiliate Program Group and is a lifetime member of the Penn State Alumni Association.
On Saturdays in the fall Janelle can be found in either Beaver Stadium or Field House.
Liana Trigg, Secretary
Liana graduated from Penn State in 2015 with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minors in Chemistry and Spanish. During her time at Penn State, she was in the Schreyer Honors College, presided over the Association of Residence Hall Students, researched in a neuroscience lab, and studied abroad in Seville, Spain.
Liana works as Sales Director at Peergenics helping clients to implement and enhance Salesforce. In her free time, Liana serves on Penn State's Alumni Council as the chair of the Technology Committee. She also enjoys making soap, traveling, and playing with her dog Moose.
Matt Micklin, Treasurer
Matt graduated from Penn State in 2016 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Economics. During his time in State College he was in the Schreyer Honors College, marched in the Blue Band Drumline, served as Vice President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and performed undergraduate research in Biotechnology.
Matt now resides in Conshohocken, PA and works as a Process Engineer for IPS – Integrated Project Services designing and implementing production processes for the Biopharmaceutical industry. He spends his free time playing the piano, watching Penn State football games, travelling, and playing with his dog, Moose.
Adam Jarvis, Activities Co-Director
Adam was raised in Blue Bell, PA, and currently resides in Philadelphia. He attended the University Park campus and graduated in 2017 with a degree in Health Policy & Administration, with a minor in health information systems. While at Penn State, he was heavily involved in the Blue & White Society, the student chapter of the alumni association, and also danced in THON his junior year.
After college, Adam started working for Cigna in Center City, as an IT Project Manager. He also has taken on several recruiting and philanthropy roles through Cigna as well, where he works with colleagues to better the Information Technology rotational program. Adam also was part of the inaugural class of Young Alumni Ambassadors for the alumni association, helping engage recent grads in the local Philadelphia area.
In Philly, Adam enjoys exploring the city, trying new restaurants, playing intramural sports, and watching both Penn State and Eagles Football.
Samantha Overstreet, Activities Co-Director
Samantha graduated from Penn State Brandywine in 2014 with a B.S. in Business Marketing. During her time at Penn State, she was on the Cheerleading team and in the Marketing and Advertising Club. She continues to go back and visit her campus to help plan events such as the 50th Anniversary Party and speaking to current students.
Samantha now resides in Manayunk, Philadelphia and works as an event planner for Xfinity Live! She also volunteers her time with the National Alliance for Mental Illness and the Suicide Prevention Foundation. During her free time, you can find Samantha and her dog hiking Wissahickon Park or checking out new breweries.
Emily Hoover, Community Service Director
Emily was born and raised in Southern New Jersey, just outside of Philadelphia. She attended University Park and spent her time in Happy Valley getting involved in THON, her sorority Alpha Xi Delta, and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. Emily graduated in 2016 with a B.A. in Public Relations and Minors in both Business and Dance.
After graduation, Emily moved to New York City where she worked as both a Publicist for a boutique music PR firm and the Assistant to the Owner for the New York Mets. She currently resides in Philadelphia and works as the Manager of Public Relations for Sterling Project Development, a real estate development and advisory firm.
Emily is excited to be the Community Service Director for our Philly Chapter. In her spare time, she enjoys teaching Pure Barre, exploring the city, and spending time with friends and family.
Kelly Irvin, Membership Director
Kelly is a 2009 graduate of Penn State with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. After graduation, Kelly joined Solvay’s rotational leadership development program where she completed assignments in various business units and geographical locations across the country over the course of four years. Following the program, Kelly continued to move geographically and through roles in engineering, operations, supply chain, and sales. In 2015, Kelly relocated to Philadelphia where she is currently a Global Sales and Business Development Manager at Solvay.
In 2019, Kelly received Penn State’s Chemical Engineering Early in Career Alumni award which recognizes one outstanding alumnus. Kelly is part of Solvay’s campus recruiting program where she returns to Penn State to both recruit new talent and lecture in engineering classes. In her free time, Kelly volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters and various other community outreach programs. She enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, skiing, and obsessing over Penn State football. Kelly is currently enrolled as a full-time student in The Wharton School’s MBA for Executives program with a projected graduation date of August 2022.
Julia Trigg, Scholarship & Student Outreach Director
Julia graduated from Penn State in 2021 with a B.S. in Mathematics, a B.S. in Statistics, and a minor in Economics. During her time as a student, she served as President of UNICEF Penn State and was also involved in the Music Service Club. She was a season ticket holder of the Penn State football team for all of undergrad and still loves to cheer for the football team.
Currently, Julia is an Actuarial Senior Analyst with Cigna in their Philadelphia location. When she is not working or studying to pass her actuarial exams, she enjoys practicing ukulele, reading, and traveling.
Santo Fortebuono, Technology Director
Santo brings 20+ years of technology experience to the Board. He is currently the AVP, ERM Technology Solutions with Lincoln Financial where he’s responsible for setting and implementing the department’s long term technology strategy. Prior to joining Lincoln Financial, he was the Head of Quant Model Implementation at The Vanguard Group where he was responsible for managing a team of Software Engineers that implemented investment and global forensic strategies.
Santo holds both a BS in Economics and a MS in Finance from Penn State University. He also holds a MS in Computer Science from Villanova University. Santo enjoys running, golfing, travelling and, most of all, attending home games in Beaver Stadium with his wife and two children every fall.
Ally Riche, Communications Co-Director
Ally graduated from Penn State in 2012 with a B.S in Kinesiology with a minor in HDFS. Ally then continued her education at Penn State Hazelton, graduating in 2016 with a A.S Physical Therapist Assistant.
While at Penn State Hazleton, she was the class President (orchestrated meetings, campus involvement and collaborated with PT faculty staff with improving PTA Program and involving incoming students). Post-graduation from PSU Hazleton, Ally moved to Newport News Va for her first job in PTA in an outpatient setting. While there, she was an active member of the Penn State Hampton Roads alumni group (Norfolk VA).
Ally recently relocated to Philly in 2018 and joined Penn State Philly. She currently works in Center City at a rehab inpatient facility. Outside of work you'll find Ally on the SRT running, at the gym, trying new bars/restaurants, or Field House on football Saturdays.
Gabby Coll, Communications Co-Director
Gabby grew up in Centre County very close to Penn State in Pleasant Gap, PA. She followed in her parents’ and brothers’ footsteps by attending Penn State University Park, where both her mom and older brother also studied Hospitality Management.
As a student, Gabby danced with RAM Squad and was heavily involved in THON. She was a committee member for Rules and Regulations and Donor Alumni Relations for three years. When Gabby wasn’t dancing and volunteering, she could be found working a shift at Pollock Dining Commons or camping outside Beaver Stadium at Nittanyville.
Since graduating, Gabby has managed various restaurants in Washington DC and State College before moving to Philadelphia where she now works as a sales consultant for a solar energy company. She often returns to State College for Penn State Hotel & Restaurant Society events and guest lectures for the School of Hospitality Management. In her free time, Gabby loves watching movies, eating delicious food, baking, and hanging out with her partner and two cats at home.
Colleen McSweeney, Professional Development Director
Colleen graduated from Penn State in 2017 with her PhD in Neuroscience. At Penn State she participated in a grad student a cappella group and also helped co-found the Huck Graduate Student Advisory Committee, chairing the committee in 2016. Colleen currently works as a Senior Scientific Consultant for a Noldus Information Technology, a neuroscience software company.
Colleen moved to the Philadelphia area in 2020, and is very excited to help fellow Penn Staters with professional development.
